  • Murphy has been charged with failing alcohol breath tests twice last year

Oisin Murphy faces a BHA Disciplinary hearing on Tuesday on charges related to testing above the permitted level for alcohol at the racecourse twice last year and also misleading a BHA employee about a trip abroad in 2020 to avoid Covid-19 restrictions.

Original plans to hold a hearing on December 10 were deferred after submissions from Murphy’s legal team regarding his welfare with the three-time champion jockey relinquishing his riding licence with immediate effect to focus on his rehabilitation.

Murphy has failed three alcohol-related tests within 36 months, which carries a potential ban of 180 days.

Potentially more serious is providing incorrect information to enter a track after his overseas trip with a charge that he acted in a manner prejudicial to the sport.
