Jordan Henderson delivered the perfect riposte to his critics with a superb cameo off the bench in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Inter Milan.
Henderson had come in for criticism are a lacklustre display in the victory over Burnley in the Premier League but had a transformative effect on Wednesday night.
In just half an hour on the pitch, he managed a pass accurary of 91 per cent having completed 44 of them.

That is in contrast to Fabinho, who had a pass accuracy of 79 per cent from the 24 he attempted during an hour he played.
Liverpool had to soak up sustained periods of pressure from Simone Inzaghi’s side at the San Siro but when Jurgen Klopp made his substitutions, the game changed.
A number of fans took to social media to praise Henderson for coming on and seizing control for Liverpool in midfield.
One wrote: ‘Jordan Henderson changed the game when he came on, the man deserves a bit more respect from some Liverpool fans.’
Another posted: ‘Jordan Henderson was so so good last night along with Diaz, Keita. Credit to the skipper after all the stick he’s been getting.’

Henderson has been dealing with some niggling injuries recently and on Tuesday, Klopp said: ‘Hendo is fine. He got a knock on his knee and today was second-day recovery for a lot of players, like him as well.
‘So it was not the longest session for him, but apart from that there are no issues really.
‘It was his back last week, then the knee in the game was definitely not comfortable – there’s a proper wound, you can really see it. It looks like lips, should not be there!
‘Apart from that, he’s fine.’
Henderson will look to keep up the momentum in Liverpool’s next game at home against Norwich on Saturday.
