Winter Olympics: Team GB beat Sweden in the Women’s Curling semi-final and book their place in final

Team GB are guaranteed another Winter Olympics medal after beating Sweden to book their place in the women’s curling final against Japan, as Eve Muirhead gets revenge for 2018

  • Team GB beat Sweden 11-12 in the Women’s Curling semi-final in Beijing
  • Great Britain will face Japan in the final after they stunned Switzerland 8-6
  • Skip Eve Muirhead gave Great Britain an 11-8 lead heading into the final end
  • But Sweden bounced back in the tenth to take the tight contest to an extra end 


Team GB are guaranteed a medal after they beat Sweden in the Women’s Curling semi-final in Beijing on Friday.

In a tight contest, the teams headed into the last three ends locked at 7-7 thanks to Eve Muirhead’s last stone in the seventh end sealing two vital points. 

Sweden pulled ahead agin the eighth but skip Muirhead played a perfect final stone to see Great Britain score a four in the ninth to go 11-8 ahead heading into the tenth end. 

Sweden snatched three back in the tenth to take the match to an extra end but Britain did not even have to play their last stone after Anna Hasselborg’s stone finished a breadth away from the British to see Muirhead and co clinch their place in the final.

Great Britain will face Japan in the final after they beat Switzerland in their semi-final.
