EastEnders star Heather Peace announces the death of her 17-year-old dog Bungle – as she describes him as her ‘most perfect friend’


EastEnders star Heather Peace has announced the death of her beloved dog Bungle.

The 46-year-old actress, who plays Eve Unwin in the BBC soap, shared a series of heartbreaking old photographs with her late pooch on Thursday.

Describing her 17-year-old dog s her ‘most perfect friend’ she wrote on her Twitter account: ‘Tonight he went to his eternal sleep. My most perfect friend since 2005.

‘Dearest Bungle. An absolute legend of dogs. Absolute unconditional, pure, love.’

She told her followers: ‘Hold them tight. The time we have with them is too short. RIP Bungle. Sleep well dearest soul. xxx.’

Heather joined the BBC soap last year as Stacey Slater’s former cellmate and current wife.

But before her arrival to the Square, she had several other roles in British soaps. 

She started her acting career as Anne Cullen on Emmerdale in 1997 and has since appeared in The Bill, London’s Burning, Casualty, Heartbeat and Waterloo Road.

Talking about joining the long running programme, she said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders and I love my character Eve.  

‘She’s tough, but fair; super bright and cheeky.

‘I’m loving working with such a brilliant cast, in particular Lacey Turner.

‘We immediately got on and sparked off each other which makes going to work easy and  fun.’
