A brave new mother was shot in the back by the Las Vegas gunman after she leapt on her stricken boyfriend’s body to shield him from further bullets.
Summer Clyburn, 22, who has a three-month-old daughter, protected her partner Michael Gracia, an off-duty police officer who had taken a round to the head.
A GoFundMe page has already raised $60,000 dollars for the young family to aid with medical bills and their recovery.
Well-wishers started the page shortly after the news of his injury emerged. Prompting a rush of donations from across the country.
‘Michael Gracia (Mikey) fellow bearcat from class of 2011 was shot last night at the Vegas shooting which is the biggest massacre in the United States to date,’ it says in the GoFundMe introduction.
‘Michael was shot in the head and was taken to surgery where it was successful but he’s going to have a long road of recovery.’
The page added: ‘Summer his girlfriend and mother of his child covered him while he was hurt which got her shot as well.
‘The love between those two are real and they are new parents and new parents shouldn’t be going through this . I want to raise money to help with any medical bills and general bills and necessities so they don’t have to worry.’

The pair were taken to hospital after the horrific attack, which occurred as revellers were enjoying a country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip.

Despite the horrific events on Monday that left 59 people dead and more than 500 others injured, Miss Clyburn’s wounds are not life threatening.
However 24-year-old Gracia is said to be in a critical but stable condition.

The couple, from Upland, California, had a daughter Vayda Gracia in June.
They were enjoying the Route 91 country music festival when Stephen Paddock, 64, open fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort hotel.
Paddock fired from an automatic rifle indiscriminately killing dozens and injuring hundreds more.
The gunman committed suicide in the hotel room before police could arrest him.
