This is the heart-stopping moment a black van ploughed through Tokyo’s busiest junction twice but somehow managed to miss thousands of pedestrians.
The van ran a red light at 10pm by Shibuya Scramble Intersection before weaving around pedestrians in a right turn, closely followed by a police car.
A few seconds later the van was seen again speeding over the pedestrian-filled crossing, from another direction, still pursued by the police car.

Again both vehicles somehow missed all the pedestrians, though one man kicked the black van as it passed, knocking himself over in the process.
The chase, which had begun when the van suddenly fled from a traffic stop, was ended soon after when officers decided it was too risky to continue.
The clip is from a CCTV camera covering the junction, which is one of the Japanese capital’s most famous sights.
