A Sydney couple were disgusted after vandals left poo on their doorstep and defaced their rainbow letterbox with black paint.
Fiona Winning and Harley Stumm were displaying the letterbox with the word ‘Yes’ spray-painted on it to show their support for same-sex marriage.
Ms Winning and Mr Stumm got the customised letterbox it for $75 from a selection made by artist Mickie Quick, who is donating the proceeds to charity, she told news.com.au.

They placed the box on the fence outside their home in Waterloo last month, but within a matter of days, someone had spray-painted it black.
Mr Quick offered the couple a replacement box while the other was being repaired.
But on Friday, that letterbox was tipped over – and this time, the vandal went up the steps to the couple’s doorstep and left dog poo there.
Now, Ms Winning has put the letterbox back accompanied with a note challenging the vandal who described as a ‘bullying ‘No’ voter.’
Within days, the bright letterbox was spraypainted black (right) and when they replaced it, it was tipped over and dog poo was left on their doorstep
It reads: ‘If you don’t like out letterbox – make your own.
‘Please don’t deface ours or put poo on our doorstep. We invite you to knock on our door and chat about why we say yes and you say no.’
The couple say they haven’t heard from the vandals, but have received a flood of warm responses.
But despite the hateful acts, they are glad to have expressed their support for their friends.
‘In some ways, we were happy to take the heat,’ Ms Winning told news.com.au.
‘What’s happening to us as allies is nothing.
‘For LGBTIQ people, for them, these small acts of hate are bringing up past terrible experiences they went through growing up.’
