Dr De Silva has identified the seven most common face shapes and how some of those faces could be improved by surgery:
1. Diamond – Megan Fox
Narrow forehead and jawline with cheekbones at the widest point of the face.
Dr De Silva said: ‘This is the most desirable face shape for a woman. It is incredibly feminine and elegant. Megan is one of the great screen beauties of her age and she has a symmetrically perfect diamond-shaped face. More women covet this shape than any other.’
2. Oval face – Rihanna
Forehead may be slightly wider than the chin, and the length of the face is about one and a half times the width.
Dr De Silva said: ‘Another beautifully elegant face shape that many women desire. Rihanna is a great example of a striking woman with a gorgeous oval face.’
3. Heart-shaped face or inverted triangle – Scarlett Johansson and Reece Witherspoon
Wider forehead and cheekbones with a narrow jawline and chin. Dr De Silva said: ‘Another highly desirable face shape that many women covet.’
4. Square face – Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightly and David Beckham
Prominent jaw and square chin, with forehead and jawline roughly the same width.
Dr De Silva said: ‘Many people view this face shape as more attractive on men because the square jawline is considered more masculine.’
5. Oblong (rectangle) or long face – Gisele Bundchen and Victoria Beckham
Dr De Silva said: ‘Having a long face has always been a negative when assessing female beauty but it did not stop Gisele Bundchen becoming the highest paid supermodel in the world. It shows that there is not a definitive template for beauty and some people just looking amazing even if their features do not immediately conform with conventional notions of beauty.’
6. Round face – Duchess of Cambridge or Kate Moss
Prominent, rounded cheeks with equal width and length of the face. People with a round face tend to have chubby cheeks and the face’s width and length are almost equal.
Dr De Silva said: ‘Chubby cheeks look cute on a child but they are not so desirable in an adult. There are simple ways to reduce volume in the face to remedy the problem of chubby cheeks if a patient feels they are impacting on their appearance.’
7. Pear (Trapezoid) – Kelly Osbourne or Minnie Driver
The jawline is wider than the forehead and the chin will be quite broad, too.
Dr De Silva said: ‘This is not a shape that is particularly desirable in a woman. There are lots of ways that patients can make their chin less prominent to improve the appearance of this face shape.’
