The then ran over to where she threw it as the music played on around her and she asked people in the crowd if anyone had seen it to hand back to her.

She then gave up on trying to find it and headed back to the stage while dancing to her catchy hit, before a backing dancer gave her a new one and she sang the rest of the chorus.

Earlier in the day Dua stepped out in New York in a chic all-black ensemble amid the tour dates.

She looked great in a corset-style top and baggy trousers which she teamed with chunky biker shoes and toted a studded leather bag.

Dua completed her look with a colourful cap and wore her hair in loose waves over her shoulders while opting for a natural makeup look.

The tour – in support of her second studio album Future Nostalgia – has been postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but finally kicked off in Florida last month.

Future Nostalgia in March 2021 won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and its lead single Don’t Start Now attained critical success, including Grammy noms for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

The tour is set to conclude in November in Perth, Australia, and is being produced by Ceremony London, promoted by Live Nation and sponsored by Truly Hard Seltzer.

The tour will also feature Megan Thee Stallion, Griff, Tove Lo, and Angèle as supporting acts.

It comes after earlier this week a report claimed that Dua is being sued over her hit song Levitating.

She enjoyed huge success with her 2020 hit but a band called Artikal Sound System are seeking to claim the profits from the track because they believe she has ripped off their 2017 reggae single Live Your Life.

Although they haven’t explained why they feel that is the case in the lawsuit, there are similarities in the sound of the two songs, particularly the choruses.

Artikal Sound System have also named Dua’s label Warner Records and others as defendants and are seeking any profits made on the song, plus damages.

A spokesperson for Dua has yet to comment.
