- Ferdinand is one of the icons in FIFA 18 with a respectable 90 overall on his card
- His son, Tate, wasn’t impressed by his Dad’s former hairstyle of long cornrows
- Ferdinand reckons he should be upgraded to 94 and is as strong as Akinfenwa
Rio Ferdinand is one of the new icon cards in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team yet still isn’t impressed with his rating.
Icons, which have replaced legend cards, are some of the best cards available on the game.
Ferdinand has an impressive rating of 90 but still wasn’t impressed. He went through his stats with his son, Tate, as they decided on his upgrades.
Rio Ferdinand debated his FIFA 18 ratings with his son, Tate, who disliked his Dad’s old haircut
Rio wasn’t happy with some of his ratings and was even unhappier with his son’s suggestions
Tate thought 83 pace was very good for a defender but Rio disagreed saying ‘What do you know, you weren’t even born then!’ before upgrading himself to 86.
One thing Tate was less impressed with, was his Dad’s hairstyle back then of long cornrows. He also said his Dad had a ‘Granddad beard’ which unsurpirsingly didn’t get much of a response.
Something they both agreed on though was that Rio’s shooting was too low. Tate suggested to upgrade his shooting from 49 to 70 after watching a couple of his Dad’s volleys on Youtube.
Rio reckons he should be stronger than Akinfenwa in FIFA, don’t think he’d say that to his face
Rio also had his own interesting way of justifying his upgrades, saying he should have higher dribbling than 66 to his son because ‘You’ve (Tate) never ever tackled me in your life, I’ve nutmegged you hundreds of times.’
Despite that, Tate didn’t think his Dad deserved better dribbling than Dele Alli so they settled on 79.
Then they went onto strength, Tate compared his Dad to Akinfenwa but still though the ‘beast’ was stronger. Rio disagreed saying he could push Akinfenwa off the ball because he had good ‘timing’. Still, he agreed to 93.
Then finally after upgrading himself in every single stat, Rio changed his overall by four, putting himself as a 94 overall.
That upgrade would put him above Barcelona legend Puyol and even as the highest rated defender in the game, Paulo Maldini.
