  • Vivianne Miedema became the first WSL player to reach 100 goal contributions
  • Arsenal’s Dutch striker scored her 70th goal in just 83 games, with 30 assists
  • Katie Zelem scored direct from two corners as Manchester United won 4-0

Vivianne Miedema became the first player to reach 100 goal contributions in the Women’s Super League as Arsenal beat Birmingham 4-2 to move eight points clear of Chelsea.

The Gunners, who have now played three games more than Chelsea, led 2-0 at half-time with Rafaelle Souza getting her first goal for the club before Miedema doubled their lead on the half-hour mark.

It was Miedema’s 70th goal in the WSL in just 83 games while 30 assists puts her on a century of goal contributions.

Beth Mead made it 3-0 with a cool finish in the 71st minute as the hosts closed in on three points.

But bottom-of-the-table Birmingham gave Jonas Eidevall’s side a late scare as goals from Libby Smith and Lucy Quinn pulled the score back to 3-2.

But a stoppage-time strike from Caitlin Foord ended any hopes of a comeback.

Tottenham’s 0-0 draw at Reading saw Manchester United hold on to third spot after they beat Leicester 4-0 on Saturday.
