‘Five or six should NEVER play for Manchester United again’: Roy Keane fumes at Ralf Rangnick’s ‘shameful’ flops after dismal second-half display against Man City, insisting ‘they don’t try hard enough’
Roy Keane has ripped into Manchester United in a furious rant following their crushing 4-1 defeat to local rivals Manchester City.
The Red Devils gave City a run for their money in the first-half but collapsed in the second, seeming to give up after Riyad Mahrez had put Pep Guardiola’s side 3-1 up.
After the final whistle, United legend Keane was unsurprisingly furious after his former side’s lack of effort towards the end of the game.

Keane has stated that United’s players ‘need to leave their egos at the door’ after the defeat
He told Sky Sports that ‘five or six’ players should never play for United again and has told them to ‘leave their egos at the door’.
‘The worst thing you can say about United is that they gave up,’ the former United captain said.
‘To give up is unforgiveable really. There’s no hiding place. We saw all the United shortcomings today. Anyone can lose football matches but to lose it the way they did – players not running back when you’re playing for Man United is unacceptable.
‘They threw the towel in, and that’s shameful. They’re so far behind the other teams. Your own pride has to kick in at some stage!
‘I was getting frustrated watching it. Anyone can make a mistake, you forgive mistakes, but not running back, five or six should never play for Manchester United again. ‘
Keane added that there was ‘something seriously wrong at the club’ (Ralf Rangnick pictured)
It’s shameful. A couple of lads in midfield, (Aaron) Wan-Bissaka, Fred, (Marcus) Rashford came on. I could go on. And City weren’t even at their best. They didn’t have to be. United gave up. Shame on them.’
Keane then delivered a rant in which he ripped into each of the four goals that United conceded.
In doing so, he ripped into the defending of Fred, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Scott McTominay.
He then went on to add: ‘If you look at the bench, they didn’t have too many options. When he did bring players on, the fight was over.

‘Some of the lads come on, they don’t try hard enough. That’s why you need senior players to come together and stay in the game.
‘I don’t know who’s running that dressing room. Maguire has had a torrid time today. Egos come into it – leave your egos at the door!
‘It’s all about looking the part, how’s my hair – play the game! They gave it up. There will be statements in the next few days through their teams and Twitter – it’s what they do on the pitch that interests me. Not all that other garbage.’
United got off to a terrible start with Kevin De Bruyne putting City ahead after just five minutes.
They did though show some attacking intent in the first-half with Jadon Sancho curling an effort into the top corner to pull United level.
Poor defending though let City back ahead after 28 minutes with De Bruyne adding his second, before Mahrez added a double in the second-half.

Keane’s fellow pundit and former Man City player Micah Richards commented: ‘I don’t think these (City) players feel the pressure, that’s why they’re the players they are.
‘It was men vs boys in the second half, City took the game to a different level. (To Roy) you could do a better job than what they’re doing down there.
‘This Man City team are relentless. They’re a better team than United. They run more and have got a better manager. Is this all United have to offer? There needs to be more.’
