The final round of European World Cup qualifying fixtures is upon us and not just England have a shout of booking their spot in Russia.

Wales and the Republic of Ireland are battling for a spot from Group D. Northern Ireland are on course for their first World Cup since 1986 and Scotland could yet join England in qualifying out of Group F.

Here, Sportsmail give you the lowdown on what each nation needs to seal their place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Wales can secure the runners-up spot from Group D with four points from their final two games

Wales

Wales can assure a runners-up spot in Group D if they take four points from Georgia away and Republic of Ireland at home.

But they would not be assured of a play-off spot as they sit bottom of the rankings

FINAL TWO GAMES — Friday: Georgia (a), 5pm. Monday: Republic of Ireland (h), 7.45pm.

Republic of Ireland

Ireland can finish second in Group D if they beat Moldova and win in Cardiff.

FINAL TWO GAMES — Friday: Moldova (h), 7.45pm. Monday: Wales (a), 7.45pm.

Northern Ireland

A top-two place is confirmed and, however unlikely, they can still win Group C. They would need to win their last two games and hope Germany lose to Azerbaijan in their final game.

FINAL TWO GAMES — Thursday: Germany (h), 7.45pm; Sunday: Norway (a), 7.45pm.

Michael O’Neill is on the brink of leading Northern Ireland to successive tournaments

Scotland

Win over Slovakia and Slovenia would see Scotland leapfrog both and finish second but they may still miss out on a play-off place.

Take away their victories over bottom-placed Malta and Scotland only have eight points — the same as Wales.

FINAL TWO GAMES — Thursday: Slovakia (h), 7.45pm. Sunday: Slovenia (a), 5pm.
