At 34-years-old Burns insists he still has the hunger and drive to compete for world titles
‘I’m good to go. We moved up for the last few fights but we never got offered the opportunity to fight at the world title.
He added: ‘Who knows? I could probably have still been fighting at lightweight now.
‘I’ve proved to myself how easy I can do lightweight when I put my mind to it. All the hard work is done in my eyes.’
Both Burns and Crolla are coming off losses and understand there is the risk of fading into obscurity with another defeat.

Crolla is coming off two defeats against Jorge Linares and is looking to bounce back
Burns suffered a points defeat to Julius Indongo in April to lose his WBA title while Crolla was outclassed on two occasions against Jorge Linares.
Crolla will have the home support in Manchester roaring him on but his experienced 34-year-old opponent has enough fights behind him not to be phased.
The trash talk has been minimal and Crolla simply believes the quality of the match-up will sell the contest.
‘Everybody who knows boxing knows this is a proper fight and I don’t see how it can be a bad one,’ he said.
The Mancunian can expect a passionate home crowd to back him against the Scot
Burns thinks a victory against Crolla will put him in the mix for big fights in the future
