The 2017 MTV EMA nominations have been announced ahead of the much-anticipated Awards ceremony.
Leading the way with a jaw-dropping five nominations is Taylor Swift, followed by Dua Lipa with three, and Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendez, who boast two nominations each.
A whole host of stars, including Drake, Eminem, Ed Sheeran and Kendrick Lemar also made the list, with Rihanna’s Wild Thoughts, and Daddy Yankee & Luis Fonsi’s record-breaking Despacito battling it out for Best Song.

Taylor Swift will go head- to-head with Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendes for Best Artist.
And battling it out for Best Look, Taylor will one again go up against Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Rita Ora and surprise newcomer ZAYN.
The ceremony, which will be presented by RIP hitmaker Rita Ora, will also see Taylor competing with former girlband member turned solo artist Camila Cabello, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendes the for Best Pop Award.
Not content with those nominations, 27-year-old Shake it Off hitmaker Taylor is also in the running for Best Video for Look What You Made Me Do, alongside Foo Fighters for Run, Katy Perry for Bon Appétit ft. Migos, Kendrick Lamar for HUMBLE and KYLE for iSpy ft. Lil Yachty, which sees their heads superimposed on children.

Marking her fifth and final nominated category, Taylor will battle it out again with Ariana Grande, as well as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and once again Shawn Mendes for Biggest Fans.
And appearing in her second category is 22-year-old British New Rules singer, who will go up against Julia Michaels, Khalid, KYLE and Rag‘n’Bone Man for Best New.
Best Live contenders are Bruno Mars, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran, who will battle veterans Eminem and U2.

Silent force to be reckoned with: Newcomer Dua Lipa has been nominated for three categories
DJs Calvin Harris and David Guetta will go up against Major Lazer, Martin Garrix and The Chainsmokers for Best Eletronic, while Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Royal Blood, The Killers and U2 will battle for the Best Rock Award.
And in a nail-biting face off Drake will compete with Eminem, Future, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone for best Hip Hop artist.
The Best Alternative category has nominated Imagine Dragons, Lana Del Rey, Lorde and Thirty Seconds To Mars to battle it out for the coveted award.
Meanwhile Hailee Steinfeld, Jon Bellion, Julia Michaels, Kacy Hill, Khalid, KYLE, Noah Cyrus, Petite Meller, Rag’n’Bone, ManSZA and The Head And The Heart will go head to head for the Best Push Act.
Best World stage nominees include Steve Aoki – Live from Isle of MTV Malta 2016, Kings of Leon – Live from Oude Luxor Theatre, Rotterdam, The Netherlands 2016, Tomorrowland 2017, DNCE – Live from Isle of MTV Malta 2017, The Chainsmokers – Live from Isle of MTV Malta 2017 and Foo Fighters – Live from Barcelona, Spain 2017.
And last but not least, geographically apt as the ceremony takes place in London this year, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Louis Tomlinson and Stormzy will wrangle for the Best UK and Ireland Act.
The ceremony will take place on November 12 in London.
