Pep Guardiola opted to remain in Manchester last summer, playing three friendlies against Championship opposition at the club’s Academy Stadium, while other teams travelled abroad in Europe.
City had organised a warm-weather training camp to Abu Dhabi in January but that was scrapped due to Covid.
They are ready to go away in the summer though, with City thought to be planning two friendlies over in America in July.
Texas is one of the destinations mooted, where Phil Foden made his first senior appearance when City played rivals Manchester United in Houston as part of the 2017 International Champions Cup.
City’s itinerary could hinge on the outcome of this season, with the Community Shield scheduled to take place on the weekend of July 30.
They may debate a longer stay in America if the team is not involved in the curtain-raiser.
