Pregnant Sarah Stage uses her son as a weight in the gym

At nine months pregnant, most women would be hobbling around with a huge baby bump looking ready to pop – but not Sarah Stage.

The 33-year-old model has became a social media star thanks to her superhuman ability to carry her babies to term with hardly a bump in sight, and also for keeping up an impressive fitness regime along the way. 

The Los Angeles resident has recently passed the nine-month mark with her due date approaching this month, and is still posting inspiring work out videos for her 2.3 million Instagram followers.

In her latest video, Sarah enlists the help of her two-year-old son James Hunter as he plays alongside her while she works out.

The clip shows the adorable little boy climb up into his mother’s lap as she performs a chair lift exercise. Instead of putting him back down on the ground, she continues to work out while using her son as a body weight. 

In the caption for the video, Sarah wrote how she was ‘enjoying the last couple weeks of this pregnancy.’

‘It’s been quite the journey! I’ve been asked how much longer I intend to workout and I think next week will be my last week,’ she said, adding that she has already decreased her exercising to two times per week as well as lowering the intensity of her work outs.

The clip ends with Sarah putting together a ‘Salted Caramel Chocolate Peanut butter Banana smoothie’ that she claims she had been ‘craving.’ 

Sarah similarly took to Instagram last month to share an adorable video of her little boy working out beside her before she demonstrated how she makes another one of her ‘favorite’ protein smoothies.

‘Ahhhh!! This week I’ll be #9monthspregnant,’ she captioned the footage. ‘I’ve still decided to continue exercising 2x a week which has kept my energy level up (not as energized as James tho).’

In the clip, Sarah is wearing a tiny sports bra and high-waisted leggings that cover her barely-there baby bump as she does a side plank next to her son.

Sarah has her arm in the air as she dips her hip toward the floor, but, unsurprisingly, the move is a bit too difficult for the two-year-old.  

Instead, James keeps his hip firmly planted on the floor as he lifts his arm in the air just like his mom.    

Numerous commenters have noted that they think it is great that Sarah is getting her little boy involved in her workouts.

‘I love how James is growing with you and getting stronger with his exercises,’ Renee Garcia wrote. ‘You’re helping him build such good coordination and teaching him how important health is at a young age.’

The second part of the video sees Sarah throwing a sliced peach, Greek yogurt, ice, almond milk and a scoop of Protein World’s The Slender Blend protein powder into a blender to make her post-workout smoothie. 

Some commenters questioned if the protein powder was safe for pregnant women, with Ana Laura Martinez Kavanagh claiming she couldn’t get a clear response from the company. 

‘How safe is that protein? I emailed Protein World and they were very cautious to recommend it while pregnant! Any protein shake advice?’ she wrote. 

However, Protein World clearly states on its website that pregnant and breastfeeding women can have up to two Slender Blend smoothies per day, as long as one of the shakes is used as a snack and not a meal replacement.  

Also in September, Sarah celebrated her impending arrival with a lavish baby shower thrown by her close friends.

The occasion was so grand that the 33-year-old from Los Angeles wore a Walter Collection gown from Walter Mendez as her friends and family paid tribute to her at the Regency Event Venue in Glendale, California.

Sarah looked amazing in the blush-colored dress, which featured an illusion mesh bodice and hand beading.

Her friends Isabel Alysa, Jessica Giselle, and Carrie Minter planned the fete for the soon-to-be mother-of-two, and she made sure to thank her pals when sharing photographer Von Jackson’s pictures from her gorgeous shower.

‘My beautiful friends @isabelalysa @jessicagiselle_ and @carrieminter went above and beyond to make everything so gorgeous!! Baby boy is already so spoiled and loved! #35weekspregnant,’ she captioned an Instagram image of her and her husband, Kris Jason, at the event.

The model’s baby bump is barely visible in the photo, which sees her and Kris happily posed in front of a table featuring tiny onesies, a blue cake from Sweet Nothings Cake Shop, and plenty of blue and white treats.

Speaking to E! News at her shower, Sarah opened up about her workout regimen while she is pregnant. 

‘I am not working out as often. I am still working out from home and I am going to still keep working out while I still have energy,’ she said. ‘I’m doing everything from my e-book. I just lowered the weights and the repetitions and the intensity.’

Much like her first pregnancy, in which Sarah had a six-pack up until the day she gave birth, her Instagram feed is filled with comments from people who claim she is harming her unborn child with her fitness regimen and trim physique.

Sarah revealed last month that she had gained 18lbs, and the mom is presumably continuing to put on weight as she nears the nears the end of her pregnancy.  

The fitness star gained a total of 28lbs during her first pregnancy, and she seems to be on track to gaining the total 25 to 35lbs that is recommended for the average healthy pregnant woman.

But it seems that Sarah has mastered the art of ignoring her haters, as she continues to speak candidly about her pregnancy and her unborn child’s health on her Instagram page. 

When one Instagram user accused her of doing ‘too much’ and trying to ‘perfect’ in the comments section of her recent workout post, Sarah hit back. 

‘I’m far from perfect ! Please read caption,’ she wrote. ‘Twice a week workouts are not too much . I chose to show you 1 per cent of my day, by choice.’
