Baby turtle takes its very first steps in outside world

Failure was not an option for this newly-hatched turtle, who was filmed desperately trying to claw out of its nesting place and into the world.

The baby snapper turtle is seen trying to pull itself out of the dirty nest it was born in but time and time again falls back into the hole.

The family filming the turtle refuse to help the animal, claiming it needs to use its ‘instincts’ like its brother, who had already escaped, had done.

Just as it looks as if the turtle will escape out of the crevice, it falls straight back down.

During the video, the man filming the video is heard saying: ‘That’s the thing about turtles, they’ve got to do it on their own.’

He adds: ‘Oh look at him, he’s trying so hard!’

The woman says that she would contemplate building a better ramp for him, but they decide against it and let the turtle fend for itself.

The family are heard giving words of encouragement to the animal, with the man telling the turtle ‘come on guy, you’ve got it, your brother is moving along’.

Unfortunately it falls back into the hole, although the man comments that the turtle is ‘really good at flipping himself back over’ when he does land on his shell.

The turtle is seen trying to climb up the steepest part of the climb out his nest, and again falls back onto its shell.

Its determination finally pays off as the turtle climbs out hole and scurries away to freedom.

As the hatching finally escapes, both the man and woman in the video are heard cheering as it makes its break for freedom.
