‘I was in Sydney for just 15hours so no time for luggage. Look at what I fit into my handbag!’ Shelly captioned the Instagram post.

She filled the tiny bag will all the essential items and only packed exactly what she needed.

‘I’m at the airport, and look at that. Feeling like a little bit of a rockstar,’ she said.

Packing lightly also meant Shelly didn’t waste any tiny checking in luggage and wasn’t weighed down by heavy carry-on bags.

She also only took one pair of shoes – the heels she was wearing.

Her packing skills impressed others on social media, and many aspired to obtaining her skills.

‘Goals. I’m the one with the suitcase just for my shoes,’ one person wrote.

‘That is some aspirational packing,’ another wrote, a third added: And looked fabulous of course.’

When packing lightly, it’s important to avoid packing last minute and to prioritise multi-functional items – such as clothes and shoes you can wear more than once.

How to pack lightly for an overnight trip:

1. Don’t pack at the last minute

2. Don’t roll your clothes

3. Shop light

4. Prioritise multi-functional items

5. Minimise toiletries
