Man arrested after handing out sinister letters to women

  • The sinister letters were allegedly handed out to women in Middlesbrough
  • They were apparently seeking a ‘private arrangement’ and to ‘meet discreetly’
  • Police confirmed they had been made aware of the notes and had made an arrest

A man has been arrested after bizarre letters were allegedly handed out to women in a busy town centre asking for a ‘private arrangement’.

The creepy notes are said to have been handed to women who ‘caught the eye’ of a man in Middlesbrough, Teesside. 

Some were posted to Facebook and stated the man was ‘not looking for a girlfriend or relationship’ but a ‘private £Arrangement’.

Cleveland Police confirmed it had been made aware of the incident and had arrested a man who was brought in for questioning.

The 51-year-old has been bailed on conditions while inquiries continue. 

The letters said: ‘No offence intended. You are simply a female that caught my eye. And I don’t have time to talk right now.

‘I am not looking for a girlfriend or relationship. I am looking for a possible private £Arrangement. If you understand my meaning.

‘I make no promises. If you are interested and Single and have the time to meet discreetly?

‘Otherwise have an enchanting day.’

Police said distributing the letters is not a criminal offence but if anyone is threatened by the notes they should raise the alarm.
