OJ Simpson registers with Las Vegas police, part of parole

OJ Simpson wrapped up his first week as a free man with a trip to the Las Vegas Police Department to register as part of his parole.

Simpson appeared to be in a hurry as he exited the police station on Thursday night after he had to register ‘in accordance with the law’.

He was released from a Nevada prison Sunday after serving nine years for armed robbery.

America’s favorite felon has been a very busy man since he was freed.

He has moved into a $1.8million home in Vegas, practiced his golf, hung out by the pool, and signed autographs for fans at a hotel.

The Juice also went to a Verizon store to pick up a cell phone and took the time to pose for pictures with customers.

The conditions of his parole dictate he must report to his state parole officer on a monthly basis and obtain permission from the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation when he changes his residence.

Division Capt. Shawn Arruti said earlier Simpson plans to live at a home in the Las Vegas area.

Simpson’s lawyers have previously said he would be moving to Florida shortly after his release to be closer to his children.

The former football player turned on the charm during one of his first orders of business this week, when he went to a Verizon store on Tuesday with his daughter Arnelle to get a new iPhone.

Arnelle was soon forced to stand to the side however as a number of young fans approached the former football great to snap a photo.

Simpson happily obliged their requests, while taking time to chat up his adoring public on the 22nd anniversary of his acquittal in the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown.

One of the young men who met The Juice, Raphael, shared his photo with DailyMail.com, joking that Simpson was ‘randomly in a Verizon store because of course he needs to get his Instagram right.’

He later added: ‘I was in the Verizon store in Vegas yesterday, saw OJ, asked for a picture he said “sure.” My girlfriend took the picture he said he was doing great and would be hanging out soon.’

Simpson seemed to quickly adapt to the new celeb-photo-snapping technique, and was looking remarkably svelte and fresh-faced in the photos.

Outfitted in designer jeans, slip-on boat shoes and a dark green pullover fleece, the septuagenarian appeared far younger than his years.

Once Simpson met with a worker at the store, he and Arnelle quickly made their way back outside to her car before driving back to his new $1.8 million crash pad.

He moved into a 5,000 square-foot property on Sunday which boasts 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a backyard putting green and pool for the next few months as he sorts out his next move.

Later Tuesday evening the paroled felon was spotted signing autographs in a Las Vegas hotel.

The former football star reportedly signed various memorabilia – including Buffalo Bills helmets – during a two-hour private session on Tuesday night.

But now free and living in Vegas, the onetime actor is said to be spending good time signing gear – with TMZ claiming he also planned a session Wednesday night.

While Simpson was found not guilty of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, he subsequently lost a civil trial and was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the Goldman and Brown families.

After 22 years of interest, it is believed Simpson now owes $100 million.

That means that some of the cash Simpson earns in the future must go to the families of Brown and Goldman.

His life in the five bedroom mansion is a drastic shift for Simpson who has spent most of the past decade cohabiting a 125 square-foot cell that came with nothing more than a bunk bed, toilet and sink.

He is adjusting well however, and on Monday was photographed putting, hanging by the pool and entertaining his daughter Arnelle at the property as if he had lived there for years.

Arnelle, 48, also appeared to be giving the old man a tutorial on how to use his new iPhone at one point, a device he will need to learn all about as he was behind bars just two months after the devices were first released in late 2007.

Simpson – who took advantage of his expanded wardrobe options by outfitting himself in a Titleist golf visor, white polo, blue mesh shorts and a fresh new pair of white orthopedic sneakers – spent Monday morning practicing his golf game ahead of Arnelle’s arrival.

He was spotted brushing up on his putting skills on the backyard green at his new residence, ahead of his inevitable return to the links this week.

Simpson will be spending these first few weeks focusing on his three favorite things according to multiple people close to the former football star – family, friends and golf.

Simpson was seen in public for the first time since his prison release when he stopped off at a gas station just outside Las Vegas around 6am on Sunday.

He sat in the backseat of a white SUV alongside the five boxes of personal belongings he took from his nine years behind bars as he and good friend Tom Scotto made their way to Las Vegas, where Simpson will be forced to live until a parole officer approves any planned move outside the state.

Prison officials later told DailyMail.com that Simpson took legal papers and his prison hot plate with him when he left the facility, among other things.

His release was carefully planned meanwhile, with a decoy van heading down the main road from the prison as Simpson and Scotto drove off down an unmarked dirt road nearby.

Simpson was outfitted in same jean hat, jean shirt, jeans and white sneakers he had on when he left Lovelock earlier in the day as he was asked what it felt like to finally be a free man.

‘I been in a car for the last five hours, so how do I know how it feels to be out?’ scoffed Simpson.

Scotto had run into the gas station when the cameraman approached Simpson, who was sitting all alone in the vehicle.

‘Man, how in the world – have y’all been stalking me?’, he asked with a chuckle.

‘I been in nowhere USA for the last nine years doing nothing. Nothing has changed in my life! What do you guys – I mean, what do you guys expect? There’s nothing changed.

He then added: ‘God bless, take care, you guys! Nothing’s changed!’

That same day Simpson also enjoyed some McDonald’s according to his lawyer Malcolm LaVergne, before settling into his new residence.

Simpson had been preparing for his release from behind bars in the weeks before he was set free.

A spokesperson for the Nevada Department of Corrections told DailyMail.com back in July that Simpson has been removed from the general population at Lovelock and placed in a separate area of the prison for his own protection.

The decision to move Simpson, 70, was made by the staff at Lovelock, and was not the result of any immediate threat.

The former football great was granted parole in July after nine years in prison.

Simpson celebrated the decision of the prison board with his four guests in attendance that day: LaVergne, his close friend Scotto, his sister Shirley Baker, and Arnelle.

He began grinning from ear-to-ear as soon as the board announced their decision, then made his way back into the prison where he will remain incarcerated until Sunday or Monday.

It was revealed during the hearing that Simpson would be returning to Florida if released, with the convicted felon joking that he did not think the state of Nevada wanted him to stick around after completing his prison sentence.

The football star will also have a sizable nest egg waiting for him, having made over $400,000 from his NFL pension in the time since he has been in prison.
