- Chelsea offered Alex Sandro a €7million deal to sign up with them this summer
- But, according to La Gazetta dello Sport, Juventus have matched that offer
- With bonuses, Sandro will earn the same at Juve as he would have at Chelsea
Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Juventus defender Alex Sandro.
The left-back is expected to sign a new contract with the Turin side, matching the offer that has been made to him by Chelsea, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
He will ultimately earn around €7million-per-year (£6.28m) at the Juventus Stadium, which is what Antonio Conte’s side offered him to make a switch in the summer.
Alex Sandro is on the cusp of signing a new contract with Juventus, matching Chelsea’s offer
Sandro’s current deal, which runs until June 2020, sees him earn €2.8m-a-year (£2.5m).
In terms of his basic salary, that will be near-enough doubled by Juventus as part of the new contract. He will pick up €5m-per-year (£4.4m) on a contract that lasts until 2022.
And bonuses linked to his performances on the pitch will see him reach close to the €7m mark offered by Chelsea.
The 26-year-old’s new contract with Juventus is expected to be signed in November, which will damage Chelsea’s January transfer window plans.
