Home to more than 800 trees, these incredible tower blocks in central Milan are dubbed the Vertical Forest.
They are part of an architect’s bid to help combat global warming and pollution while making the skyscrapers aesthetically pleasing.
The residential towers host, 4,500 shrubs and 15,000 plants which are distributed evenly around the building.
The Vertical Forest absorbs CO2 and dust particles and produces oxygen, contributing to a micro-climate.
The towers were designed by the Boeri Studio in Milan, which is working on a host of forest projects.
It describes the Vertical Forest as ‘a model for a sustainable residential building, a project for metropolitan reforestation contributing to the regeneration of the environment and urban biodiversity.’
