Disturbing video has emerged of an NYPD officer repeatedly punching the head of a teenager who officials said knocked another cop to the ground and put his hands on his neck.
The incident occurred in the Manhattan neighborhood of Marble Hill around 9am on Friday when police say the 16-year-old teen, Alfred Burns, attempted to steal a bicycle from in front of a store at 225th Street and Broadway.
According to officials, the bike’s owner caught Burns in the act and was able to flag down police, reported the New York Post.

When the officers approached, Burns allegedly began to struggle, knocking one of them to the ground and putting his hands on his neck.
That is when the partner of the downed cop got on top of Burns and proceeded to ht him with a series of jabs.
The video, which was originally posted to LiveLeak.com, begins with the officer on top of the teen with a third officer yelling: ‘Stop resisting!’
A bystander can be heard yelling ‘No, what are you doing? What did you do?’ as the officer continues to pummel the teenager.
‘No, that’s extra!’ says the person filming the video.
A pedestrian is seen trying to hold back the arm of the unnamed officer, who continues to hit Burns. At one point, he even hits the teen in the face.
Eventually, the female officer is able to cuff Burns with the other two officers holding him down.

Burns, of the South Bronx, was arrested and charged with assault, petit larceny, resisting arrest, criminal possession of stolen property and giving a fake name, according to authorities.
He was taken to Lincoln Hospital for treatment and released.
Police say Burns was resisting arrest because he was wanted in connection to an attempted robbery that took place in the Bronx on July 31.
Burns, of the South Bronx (seen right), was arrested and charged with assault, petit larceny, resisting arrest, criminal possession of stolen property and giving a fake name, according to authorities. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital for treatment and released.
In that incident, Burns followed a 56-year-old man inside the building, pulled out a box cutter and demanded cash.
When the victim pointed out that there were surveillance cameras in the building, Burns took off running, police said.
Later that day, Burns allegedly robbed a cab driver in The Bronx at knifepoint and stole $75, a cell phone and a tablet
Allegedly, Burns also approached another man in The Bronx and demanded money from him. When the man refused, the teen took off.
Burns was arrested on August 8 in connection to both incidents, and charged with attempted robbery, police said.
