Saoirse recently told The Daily Mail about her character in the drama, based on the acclaimed novel-of-the-same-name by Ian McEwan, who also wrote the film’s screenplay.
She explained that the lack of knowledge about sex at the time led to Florence and Edward being unable to consummate their marriage.
She said: ‘It’s set right on the cusp of the sexual revolution; but Florence and Edward, who we play, haven’t been able to talk freely about sex. And they haven’t understood why they’ve had this reaction’.
