Katy Perry shares hilarious behind the scene snaps flashing her pants in a mermaid tail

Katy Perry took to Instagram on Monday to share comical behind the scenes snaps from American Idol’s Disney Night.

The pop star, 37, took a tumble on Sunday’s episode of the singing costume as she fell out of her chair while wearing an Ariel costume from The Little Mermaid.

Katy’s costume was spot on as she donned a blue mermaid tail which proved difficult to get on as she was assisted by several members of the crew, while flashing her beige underwear.

Katy wore a purple shell bra and completed the ensemble with a bright red plastic wig. 

She looked fantastic once in the costume, but the next challenge was getting to her seat in the not-so-practical outfit.

She shared the snaps and hilarious video with her 195 million followers and wrote: ‘Flippin’ your fins you don’t get too far’

Cute: Even Katy’s pet pooch Nugget got involved and  was dressed as Flounders the fish 

She had trouble walking in the rigid costume and was helped by fellow judges Lionel Richie, 72, and Luke Bryan, 45, and host Ryan Seacrest, 47, as she took her center seat a the judges’ table.

They wheeled Katy in using a dolly and helped the singer get in her chair.

Once Katy made it to her chair she didn’t stay their for long as she quickly lost her balance and crashed to the ground. 

When Ryan started to introduce the first contestant, but was interrupted by a crashing noise.

‘Oh!’,’ Ryan remarked as the camera showed Katy upended with her fish tail only up in the air.

Luke pointed and laughed at Katy before joining Lionel and Ryan in helping her up.

‘Are you okay? Are you alright?,’ Ryan asked, as Katy replied ‘yes’. 

‘She’s alright,’ Ryan said as they lifted her up and got her back into her chair. while the audience then broke out into a ‘Katy! Katy! Katy!’ chant as she smiled.

Twitter reacted immediately with people posting about her pratfall as they quipped the singer should not have been given a chair with wheels. 

Katy has been a judge on American Idol since 2018.
