He’s taking part in one of the most action-packed renovation shows on TV.
And now, The Block contestant Wombat, 38, has revealed he was forced to face more drama after filming wrapped.
In an interview with this week’s TV WEEK, the reality TV star admitted that he discovered he had skin cancer after his friend and Block teammate Sticks told him to see a doctor.
‘When they say you’ve got a cancer, it’s like “Whoa!” Speaking to TV WEEK on Monday, The Block contestant Wombat (left) revealed he had been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma after his teammate Sticks (right) convinced him to see a doctor
Wombat had first detected a small red sore on his wrist before he headed off to take part on The Block.
Mate Sticks was concerned and advised him to get a professional to check it out and when the lesion still hadn’t healed by the time the boys had finished The Block, Wombat heeded his advice.
At the doctor, Wombat was informed he had basal cell carcinoma (BCC) – a non-melanoma skin cancer and they removed the sore and surrounding skin.

The rookie renovator also spoke about his fears the cancer will return, given that he had previously had two other skin cancers removed.
‘I was worried about it coming back in the same spot,’ he said.
‘I’ve been told that now I’ve had a couple, they will pop up from time to time and I just have to keep on to it and get them cut out.’
