WEEKLY TONING FACIAL

I love a CACI facial — it’s the nearest thing you can get to a facelift without going under the knife. My favourite is the anti-ageing Signature Non-Surgical Facial Toning treatment (£55 for one hour, caci-international.co.uk). I got them in my 30s, but the salon said I should come back in my 50s. So I’ve booked on to a weekly course. You need several to see the benefits. They leave my skin glowing. My facial muscles feel as though they’ve had a workout.

MY FRENCH SKIN SECRET

I moisturise morning and night and often during the day, too. I’ve stuck to the same French product for the past 30 years — Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, which was all the rage with make-up artists in the Nineties. It’s the perfect consistency and doesn’t sit on the skin. Without it, my face feels very tight. I used to travel to Paris to get it, but now you can buy it in Boots (£13, boots.com).

BACK TO BLACK

My signature style is a timeless, all-black roll-neck, jeans and boots. People often say that you should stop wearing this colour as you get older, as it ages the face. I disagree — you can wear black after 50, as long as you wear it in the right way. I pair it with a bright-red lipstick, which lifts the face, creating an effortlessly chic look.

BOOST ROOTS

As I am half-Spanish, my hair is thick and difficult to tame. I find mousse is drying and adds too much volume. So I fight frizz with Argan Oil Hair Treatment (£9.99, boots.com). The trick is to apply it to the roots, then comb it down to the tips for full coverage, to give hair all the hydration it needs.

A FRESH-START EVERY DAY

I begin the day with a walk to work. It is my own form of meditation and vital for my wellbeing. As you reach mid-life, I think this is key: it is a period of change and we find ourselves with more time on our hands. Now is the chance to rediscover all the things you used to do before having children.
