Kate Lawler reflects on post-natal depression as she shares snaps with daughter Noa

Kate Lawler has reflected on her battle with post-natal depression and admitted she is much happier now as she shared sweet snaps with her daughter Noa.

The TV personality, 42, took to Instagram on Saturday to share both recent and throwback pictures with Noa, 15 months, and said the difference between the snaps was ‘remarkable’.

In a candid caption, Kate spoke openly about her difficult battle with post-natal depression and said she was at her ‘lowest point ever’ one year ago.

Sharing a photo from a year ago of herself in a swimming costume cradling Noa, Kate said she was ‘desperately trying to be happy’ at the time as she struggled with depression and anxiety.

Kate posted the picture alongside a photograph taken on Saturday, exactly one year later, and admitted that she and Noa, who she nicknames Tayto, are both much happier now.

She penned: ‘Same day, same month, one year apart.

‘The difference in both of us is remarkable. In the photo on the left, I was desperately trying to be happy and get on with my life as a new Mum but inside I was at my lowest point ever.

‘I was going through post-natal depression, had recently been diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder and felt like I was failing on so many levels as Mum to Noa and partner to Boj.’

She also shared an array of other pictures of her fiancé Martin Bojtos cuddling their daughter as they enjoyed a sun-filled morning in their garden on Saturday.

In the snaps, Kate showed off her sensational figure in a skimpy two-piece, made up of a cropped black vest top and animal print bikini bottoms.

The model, who is set to marry Martin in two weeks, flashed a huge grin and flaunted her fresh-faced beauty while she wore her platinum tresses in a straight fashion.

The family were also joined by their adorable dog Shirley, who Kate recently revealed would be an honorary ‘flower girl’ at her wedding.

In a lengthy caption alongside the snaps, Kate revealed how deciding to stop breastfeeding last year improved her mental health as she was finding it ‘stressful’.

She wrote: ‘It was during this weekend away (Boj surprised me with a weekend staycation at a lovely Airbnb in Henley-On-Thames with friends for my 41st birthday) that I decided to stop breastfeeding as it was becoming too stressful with Noa not wanting to feed from me and my milk supply dwindling.

Wedding: The Big Brother winner also expressed her excitement about her upcoming nuptials with her fiancé Martin, with the big day rapidly approaching in just two weeks time

‘It was a decision I can now look back and say was the best thing for my mental health and for Noa, despite cutting so deep at the time because of how much I wanted it to work.

‘Cut to a year later and she’s the happiest, funniest, most precious little Tayto, coming up to 16 months and I’m in such a different headspace to back then.’

The Big Brother winner also expressed her excitement about her upcoming nuptials with her fiancé Martin, with the big day rapidly approaching in just two weeks time.

Admitting how ‘lucky’ she felt, she continued: ‘I’m also a published author and we’re both about to walk down the aisle to the man who neither of us could live without.

‘It’s days like yesterday I remind myself just how lucky we all are. We lived in a flat with no garden for so many years and I remember having conversations with Boj when we’d just moved into this house about how we couldn’t wait for sunny days in the garden with a paddling pool and the dogs, watching our little girl splash about in the water and yesterday was her first proper time in a paddling pool and she loved it.

‘The wedding is now just two weeks away! I still can’t believe it’s finally happening after one pandemic, two years and three different dates and that Tayto is now part of the whole thing. We originally decided to try for a baby on our honeymoon but here we all are…

Kate is set to tie the knot with Martin in June, and she enjoyed a fun-filled hen do in Palma earlier this month with her pals and her twin sister Karen.

During the sun-soaked weekend, they attended a host of beach clubs and seaside destinations – with Kate documenting the trip to her 425k Instagram followers.

Kate posed up a storm for snaps on the trip, showing off her toned figure in a pink bikini, and novelty ‘bride to be’ sunglasses.

The beauty sported a white sheer beach cover up over her shoulders and paired the ensemble with black sandals which were embellished with pearls.

Her string bikini also featured large pearl detailing and her blonde locks were styled in loose curls.

Kate and her pals even hilariously took some time to dress-up during the trip, sporting matching masks of Kate’s dog as they strutted beside a pool. 

As the fun-filled celebrations came to an end, it was time for the group to head home – to which three members of the group hilariously turned up to the airport in the same outfit.

Posting the blunder to her Instagram story, Kate took a snap of her three pals all in white trousers and denim jackets.

Despite the wild holiday, the star admitted that she was ‘ready’ to go home, posting a bare-faced selfie on Sunday from the plane as she wrote: ‘Ready to fly home to babies and Boj’.

And it seemed she had quite the welcome party, as she was greeted by cuddles from her daughter Noa, husband-to-be and their two dogs.

Kate is engaged to her fiancé Martin – who she shares Noa with – and the pair are set to wed in just two weeks.

The smitten couple were meant to tie the knot on June 6 last year but were forced to postpone their big day due to Covid-19 restrictions.
