This is the shocking moment a black cab driver hurls racist abuse at a cyclist who questioned why he had stopped in a cycle bay and told him that ‘no one asked you to come here.’

The cyclist can be seen weaving through traffic before pulling into a cycle bay, also known as an advanced stop line, at a set of traffic lights in central London.

The annoyed cyclist, filming via his helmet-mounted camera, shouts at the cabbie: ‘Why are you stopping in a bicycle lane?’

The cabbie replies, ‘Don’t touch the motor!’ before shouting: ‘Go back to f****** Poland! Go back to Romania! Wherever you’re from… go back!’

He goes on: ‘No one asked you to come here. No one said so.’

But the bemused cyclist wasn’t deterred and chased after the cabbie as he pulled away at the junction.

The cyclist said to the taxi driver: ‘Are you a racist? Why are you picking on my race?’

A spokesman for Transport for London, which is responsible for regualting taxis in the capital, told MailOnline: ‘We are shocked and appalled by this video. We will urgently investigate this incident and take appropriate licensing action against the taxi driver.’

The 2-minute clip ends with the cyclist eventually cycling away from the scene.

Advanced stop lines are a set of white stop lines placed at junctions which are controlled by traffic lights.

They were created to allow a safe haven for cyclists at the head of a queue of traffic waiting for the traffic lights to change to green.

The cabbie says, 'Don't touch the motor!' before shouting: 'Go back to f****** Poland! Go back to Romania! Wherever you're from... go back!'

According to the City of London Police, when a vehicle approaches an advanced stop line system and the traffic lights at the junction change from green to amber, the vehicle must stop.

Drivers caught crossing the first or second advanced stop lines when the signal is red are liable for a £60 fixed penalty charge and three points on their licence.
