Britain’s Got Talent finalist admits to indecent images

A Britain’s Got Talent star is facing jail after pleading guilty to making indecent images of children.

Leeroy Bailey, 36, was a member of dance troupe Kombat Breakers who lost out to opera singer Paul Potts in the 2007 final of the ITV show.

He appeared at Warwick Crown Court and admitted one count of making the indecent images of youngsters, which were found on his computer.

The court heard the street dance teacher recorded the indecent images – which featured a naked male – on his mobile phone but claimed his motive was not sexual.

His defence solicitor described one video as ‘tomfoolery’ and ‘messing around’ with young people while the other clip ‘spoke for itself.’

Bailey also denied five other charges involving still and moving images across all three levels of seriousness, which was accepted by the prosecution.

Adjourning the case for sentencing next month, Recorder Alistair Smith said: ‘I have had the benefit of seeing the videos.

‘Having seen these videos I think I am still of the view there should be an adjournment of this case for a full report.

‘I would invite the Crown to get a statement from those who are shown on the videos.

‘Mr Bailey, you have entered a guilty plea and it is important any court which sentences you will be in the position to fully understand the offence pleaded to.

‘A court may be further assisted from further evidence.

‘The judge on the next occasion is in no way constricted, do not take anything from the fact you were granted bail.’

Bailey, of Foleshill, Coventry, admitted making two movies in category C, defined as showing children in naked or indecent poses, between January 1, 2014 and April 3, 2016.

He denied the charges which related to five movies and one still image said to be in category A, the most serious, involving children being subjected to penetrative sex acts.

He also denied two further charges relating to one movie and four still images in category B, showing children in non-penetrative sex acts.

The remaining charge relates to making five still images in category C, the least serious, which he also pleaded not guilty to.

Prosecutor Graeme Simpson said: ‘Some of the material referred to might be seen to be inappropriate but not criminal.

‘The computer was seized from his sitting room which many people have access to.

‘Given he is prepared to plead guilty to images he has made directly we are content with that.

‘In the basis of the plea, he says: “I accept making videos on my mobile phone, these are both category C.

‘”I accept people involved were under the age of 18. The naked male was over the age of 18, the other male was under the age of 18.

‘”My motive was not sexual but I recognise motive is not taken into consideration”.’

Siobhan Collins, defending, said: ‘In both sets of photographs it is entirely clear what is going on.

‘There is a lot of background material unproven against this defendant.

‘I do invite you to watch it, in short it is tomfoolery, messing around, during the course of which one person is mooning in a public place, the other speaks for itself.’

Bailey was granted unconditional bail until his sentencing hearing on November 3.
