Charles and Camilla still advertising for a new sous chef

Cooking in a royal kitchen for the heir to the British throne would be a dream come true for many chefs.

But Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have been waiting nearly six months for a new sous chef after failing to hire a suitable candidate.

They are now advertising again for the very regal appointment, which would involve serving the royal couple organic food only and travelling extensively with them on their royal duties.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall love organic produce, which is why their new sous chef has to have an interest in cooking organic food (pictured, the royal couple eating organic regional produce in Austria in April this year)

Eager applicants will have to hurry if they want to land the role, as the deadline is this Friday, October 13.

According to the advert on the Clarence House website, the successful candidate will work 40 hours a week and find themselves in the kitchens of royal residences across the UK.

The royal couple first sought a new private chef back in May, but their household’s hunt for a suitable candidate was seemingly unsuccessful as the job is still advertised.

The advert reads: ‘We are looking for a Sous Chef to join the kitchen team, working within The Household of HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.

The Prince and the Duchess both love food, which is why their new sous chef will also travel with the couple (pictured the Prince at a food fair in Exeter in July last year)

‘The Sous Chef will be responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of the highest standard of food, for private dining, staff meals, receptions and other events.’

The role will also see the successful candidate ‘working in Royal Residences across the UK’. The salary has not been disclosed.

Creating menus using locally-sourced produce is clearly a huge part of the role; those applying ‘should be passionate about the quality of the food you provide, including its origins and sustainability.’

Budding regal chefs will also plan menus from ‘conception through to service’.

Applications for the role must be in by October 13 and ‘applicants must have demonstrable experience of working as a sous chef in a private house or in premier catering, or equivalent.

‘They will have a City and Guilds Catering qualification, or equivalent, with an understanding, or working knowledge, of organic food.

‘A flexible and adaptable approach is essential, as are excellent communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure.’
