A Missouri man asked his alleged rape victim for time to drink beer before she notified the police of his crime, it was reported on Friday.
Russell L. Burd, 45, handcuffed a woman in her home, raped her with her three-year-old son in another room, and then asked her to delay calling the police so that he could ‘down a couple of beers’ before going to jail, according to an arrest report released on Friday.
Burd has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree burglary, and third-degree kidnapping, WDAF-TV reported.
According to court documents, Burd raped his neighbor inside her home in Independence, Missouri before dawn last Saturday.
Burd is alleged to have gone downstairs and knocked on the door of his victim at around 4am on Saturday.
He told his neighbor that he needed to talk to her. When she opened the door, she saw Burd standing on the staircase leading down to her floor.
She told investigators that Burd appeared drunk and upset.

Burd is then alleged to have approached her, revealing three pairs of handcuffs and at least two pieces of cloth from behind his back.
When he allegedly tried to force his way into the apartment, she resisted by pushing, hitting, and kicking him, according to the police report.
Burd managed to force his way inside the apartment. Once inside, he is alleged to have fallen on top of the woman.
He then grabbed her wrists and placed them in a pair of handcuffs, according to authorities.
As Burd was allegedly assaulting her, he told her to ‘pretend to enjoy this or I will kill you in front of your son.’
Once the alleged attack ended, Burd asked her for ‘a little time before you contact the cops so I can down a couple beers before I go to jail.’
He also asked her to ‘tell the cops to watch out for my mother’s ashes.’
Police arrived shortly afterward and arrested Burd. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
