Simone Callahan praises son Jackson for winning big at World Series of Poker in Las Vegas

Simone Callahan has praised son Jackson Warne, 23, for competing in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

The mother-of-three shared a slew of photographs on Instagram on Sunday as she congratulated Jackson for his abilities.

‘Beyond Proud of our Beautiful Jackson, for as long as I can remember he has been playing poker,’ she wrote.

Simone recalled how Shane taught the kids how to play poker when they were little. 

‘As soon as the kids could play card’s Shane taught them all how to play poker, they all loved it, Jackson especially,’ Simone added. 

‘As he got older he would play in lil tournaments with his Dad, at school, with his friends, family wherever a chance to play he would!’ 

Simone went on to say it was Shane’s dream for the father-son duo to compete in the series together.

‘When Jackson turned 21, his and Shane’s dream was to play in the World Series in 2020 together,’ she went on. 

She said Shane purchased him a ticket for his 21st birthday only for covid to postpone the series.  

‘This year Jackson went with his Dad watching from heaven and I know how proud he will be of Jackson,’ Simone said.

‘You showed up under really sad circumstances, would of taken so much courage to play in a tournament you thought you’d be and dreamed of playing with your Dad.’

Jackson made it to day three of the tournament.

‘Keep being passionate about your love of poker, keep manifesting and I hope one day your dream comes true,’ she finished.

Jackson had early wins from the tournament after taking home US$87,300 (AUD$130,000) on the first day.

‘We did it! we bagged our first ever [World Series of Poker] main event!’ he captioned a photo of poker chips on Instagram. 

He continued: ‘Finished day 1d bagging [USD] $87,300. Will know how many runners there are tomorrow, as well as the average stack.’

The SAS Australia star made good on his vow to continue the late Australian cricketer’s legacy by winning big at poker

Jackson thanked his followers for all their lovely messages, saying they ‘mean a lot’. 

Shane, considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time, died from a heart attack on March 4 while on holiday in Koh Samui, Thailand. He was 52.

Thai police said he was staying in the villa with four friends, and when one of the group tried to wake Shane at about 5pm local time he was found to be unresponsive.  

'I've been playing poker since I was young and [Shane] taught me how to play because we've been on planes, you don't have much room on planes so you take a deck of cards and play,' Jackson told Daily Mail Australia in 2020
