Beauty and the Geek: Emily McCarthy is charged with drink driving

Newly announced Beauty and the Geek star Emily McCarthy is convicted of drink driving after blowing more than THREE times the legal limit

A contestant from the upcoming season of Nine dating show Beauty and the Geek has issued a grovelling apology after being caught drink driving.

Emily McCarthy, 25, was convicted of high-range drink driving after she blew 0.168 in a roadside breath test on November 7 last year.

Ms McCarthy was pulled over while driving in Miranda, Sydney, then arrested and taken to Kogarah police station.

McCarthy pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined $500 at Sutherland Local Court on January 13.

She was also disqualified from driving for six months.

‘The accused stated she had recently finished an alcoholic beverage at the Gymea Hotel 20 minutes prior to being stopped by police,’ police said.

Ms McCarthy told Daily Mail Australia in a statement via Nine’s publicity department: ‘I deeply regret my decision and take full responsibility for my actions.’

‘I accepted the court outcome and this has been a huge learning for me and something I will never do again.’

The popular reality show will premiere on Nine on July 17.

Admitting she’s the loudest person at every party in a recent trailer, Ms McCarthy said her favourite thing to do is ‘tanning, tanning and fake tanning’.

She hopes the geeks will broaden her horizons by showing her there are different options out there compared to the types she usually dates.
