An adult surfer has unleashed a volley of ferocious punches at a stunned teenager after the two collided as they both tried to surf the same wave

The older surfer cut in front of the youngster who was left with nowhere else to go, bumping the man’s surfboard and dumping them both as the barrel wave crashed over them.

But bystanders were shocked when the adult then launched a savage on the teenager, raining punches down on the youngster in a furious violent reaction.

The older man can be seen repeatedly smacking the teen around the head in the Facebook footage posted by Gold Coast-based surf site, 18 Seconds.

The website captioned the shocking video clip: ‘Some pumping waves today. Dust-ups too. We don’t condone violence. It’s never the answer.’

Fellow surfers can be heard shouting at the adult to stop, with one female surfer telling him: ‘He’s just a kid, dude. You’re twice his age.’

The surfer eventually relented and threw up his hands in surrender and exasperation before the pair swam off.

The popular break is infamous for angry encounters between surfers competing for the best breaks. Monday’s one-day swell was a magnet for surfers young and old.

One 18 Seconds reader posted : ‘Punching a kid multiple times in the head because he a drops in on you on 3 foot wave is weak and embarrassing at best.’

Another added: ‘What a hero, punching a grommet [young surfer] and I don’t give a rat’s what the circumstances are.’

ON eposted: ‘Don’t hit kids ya w***er. A good old verbal barrage would have been enough. Even if the lidder was being lippy.’

But another replied: ‘Hope the grom learns from it and looks on the inside next time because that could have been way worse if he was riding glassed board.

‘Still you could have just dunked the kid instead of belting him.’

Another added: ‘The grom did wrong but he could have just been yelled at instead.’

Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia they had no record of the incident being reported to them.
