A nurse is fighting for her life after her ute crashed head-on with a car driven by a 14-year-old boy.
Danielle Oldfield, 27, who works at Nepean Hospital, was trapped for more than an hour inside the vehicle after the teenager allegedly crossed over onto the wrong side of the road at Werrington, in Sydney’s west.
Miss Oldfield suffered extensive injuries to her arms and legs that left her in a critical condition after the accident on Thursday at 7.30pm.

She was transported to Westmead Hospital for surgery alongside her 16-year-old brother Billy, who was a passenger in the ute at the time.
He is in a stable condition despite suffering a broken sternum and leg injuries.
Their father told Channel Seven his children were on their way to the shops when the collision happened, while police said it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Four teenagers, aged between 14 and 18, in the other car were taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead for a range of non-life threatening injuries, NSW Police said.

A 14-year-old boy from Bidwell, who was behind the wheel at the time, suffered serious abdominal injuries and fractures.
He will be interviewed by police once he is out of intensive care.

‘He shouldn’t have even been driving… 14 years old is way too young,’ they wrote on Facebook.
Another Sydneysider wrote: ‘These things happen due to speed limits being ignored and hoons who think it will never happen to them – and most times it’s the innocent who suffer.’
Police are urging anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the crash, or anyone with dash-cam footage, to come forward.
