Early in the trailer a group of young people gather together at a mansion during a hurricane for what appears to be an overnight party.

Pete’s character David, a fabulously wealthy man seen shirtless in the pool early on in the trailer, is the host of the party.

He is throwing the fete with Sophie, played by Amandla, who rose to prominence in a drama film about racism called The Hate U Give.

Sophie is dating a working-class girl called Bee, played by Maria, a Bulgarian actress who shot to fame as the title character’s daughter in the Borat sequel.

Early in the trailer Bee is informed she has ‘the vibe’ of being in her ‘first relationship’ – and chows cheerfully down on a cake before being told it is laced with cannabis.

Rachel, who made her mark in the dark comedy Shiva Baby, plays Alice, who appears to be dating Greg, played by The Hobbit actor Lee Pace.

When Sophie introduces Bee to the other guests, Greg, floating shirtless around the pool in an inflatable donut, gawps at her and says: ‘Oh, whoa!’

Other young faces in the movie include Chase Sui Wonders as Emma, Myha’la Herrold as Jordan and Connor O’Malley as Max.

What a lineup: Chase Sui Wonders's character Emma appears to be dating Pete, as she is frequently seen clinging to him, in the pool and on a deck chair

When Bee arrives at the mansion, she brings a gift in a box for David, presumably to thank him for hosting them all there.

‘What is it?’ says David, and when Sophie supportively tells him the box contains zucchini bread, he says with a somewhat dubious air: ‘Yum.’

As the party guests dance and frolic around the mansion, Sophie calls for ‘Silence!’ and says with a mischievous grin: ‘Who wants to play Bodies Bodies Bodies?’

Her friends gather around as she explains the rules of the card game, saying: ‘If you draw the piece of paper that has the X on it, you are the murderer.’

She adds in a sly tone of voice: ‘And if you’re the murderer, you have to kill someone by touching them on the back.’

Sophie concludes: ‘The most important part – if you come across a body, you have to yell: “Bodies, bodies, bodies!”‘

Pete’s character David rolls his eyes at the prospect of being selected, saying: ‘It would be so obvious if I were the killer.’

Suddenly all the lights in the mansion are cut, presumably because of the hurricane, leaving the guests crawling about in the dark.

One of the women at the party comes upon David, who teasingly blows a cloud of what is presumably marijuana smoke at her.

However David eventually goes missing, and the women at the party begin to wander around in the pitch darkness looking for him.

Their search evidently leads to horrifying results – an earsplitting shriek rings out and a bloody knife appears on the scene.

Having a laugh: Pete's character David rolls his eyes at the prospect of being selected, saying: 'It would be so obvious if I were the killer'

‘Our friend is dead!’ Myal’ha’s character Jordan says in the kitchen, before reaching for one of the knives to protect herself.

‘Jordan, what are you doing?’ Alice exclaims, and when Jordan insists she is just ‘staying safe,’ Alice replies: ‘Really? Because it looks like you’re grabbing a meat-cleaver to go look for my boyfriend!’

The trailer offers a few mysterious glimpses into the rest of the plot, including a shot of the women trudging through the rain at night.

Goofing about: Pete's character David rolls his eyes at the prospect of being selected, saying: 'It would be so obvious if I were the killer'

Suspicion appears to be spreading among the guests, as one of them asks, seemingly about Bee: ‘How long have you known her?’

Even early on in the party, David is seen conspiratorially warning his old pal Sophie: ‘You should watch your girl.’

The tension reaches a breaking point at the trailer when one of the guest is seen in silhouette pushing another one over a railing to a steep fall into the floor below.
