Bunnings famous sausage sizzle is hit by a MAJOR price hike

Now the famous Bunnings sausage sizzle is hit by a MAJOR price hike for the first time in 15 years – as cost of living crisis strikes Australia

The price of a snag and bread is about to increase at Bunnings for the first time in 15 years.

The price of a sausage will rise from $2.50 to $3.50 after community groups called for an increase after seeing a decline in money raised due to the soaring costs of goods.

Meat, bread, onions, sauce, oil, had all risen in price this year, impacting fundraising.

Bunnings managing director Mike Schneider said: ‘The inflationary environment has certainly meant that many of our community groups have come to us and asked for this change.

‘The sausage sizzle will always be a community led initiative and we have listened and responded in a way we hope allows groups to maximise fundraising efforts, whilst still giving customers a simple way to support their local community,’ he explained.

The $1 price hike will take affect from Saturday, July 23.

Over the last 5 years, community groups have run more than 155,000 sausage sizzles at Bunnings stores across Australia, raising more than $140 million for their causes.
