It’s always sound advice to stay in your vehicle when on an African safari – as this video proves.

These children got quite a shock on Monday when the lion they were filming suddenly lunged at them at Kruger National Park, in South Africa.

The clip shows the youngsters leaning out of the wound-down windows of their car and pointing their devices at the beast which was lying in the road with a female companion.

They appear to be very excited about getting so close to the animals which at first seem to be taking no notice of them.

But suddenly the lion stirs to notice he has an audience – which irritates him.

He growls and makes a lunge at the startled children, who immediately retreat to the safety of their vehicle.

The grumpy lions then slink away from the tourists – presumably to find a spot where they won’t be bothered.

Kruger National Park hit headlines earlier this week when a lion was filmed bursting a family’s car tire with its teeth.
