Megan McKenna ‘drastically reduces’ screen time on TOWIE

She has been given her first taste of musical success, after releasing her debut country single High Heeled Shoes.

And hoping to make the most of her new high-flying career in the music business, Megan McKenna has reportedly ‘drastically reduced’ her screen time on The Only Way Is Essex and will no longer be a full time cast-member on the reality show.

According to The Sun, the starlet, 25, is now turning her attentions elsewhere and focusing on making her country music dream a reality.

New focus: Megan McKenna, 25, has reportedly ‘drastically reduced’ her screen time on The Only Way Is Essex and will no longer be a full time cast-member on the reality show

Megan had starred in her very own reality show, titled There’s Something About Megan, that saw her leave the confines of Essex for country music hub Nashville in a bid to launch her music career.

She performed in famous haunts in the US State and worked with acclaimed songwriter Beth Nielsen, who has sat down with the likes of Elton John, to create her very first original track Far Cry From Love – detailing her split from beau Pete Wicks.

After impressing music executives with her showcase, after spending a month in Nashville, Megan was given the go ahead to release her single High Heeled Shoes and beat off the likes of Taylor Swift, as it soared to the number one spot on the iTunes country music chart.

Now wanting to distance herself from her reality background, a source told The Sun: ‘Megan is reducing her hours so she can focus on chasing her country music dreams.

‘She’s filming less days with TOWIE because of her increasing commitments to music.’

Focusing on her ambitions as a singer will no doubt come as a welcome distraction from Megan who was recently left devastated by her home being burgled while she was out on a night out in her hometown.

The reality star is believed to have returned from a night out at popular venue Faces to find her home ransacked by thieves who stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery, designer handbags and sunglasses as well as sentimental items.

Thieves ‘took everything they could get their hands on’ – adding yet even more distress for Megan, as the devastating incident comes just a week after her split from on/off beau Pete Wicks.

A source close to Megan revealed to The Sun: ‘She returned from a night out in Faces to find her home completely ransacked,’ adding that thieves stole expensive jewellery that held sentimental value as it had been given to the beauty by her late grandparents.

‘She’s had designer handbags, shoes and sunglasses stolen and they even went as far to go through her underwear drawer.’

When contacted by MailOnline, a representative for Megan confirmed: ‘Megan’s home was burgled at the weekend and police are investigating.’

It’s said Megan fears thieves found out where she lived after watching her on TV in the ITVBe reality series.

She is often seen filming within her home, with fans becoming familiar with her lavish interiors and velvet crush sofas. Megan had purchased her first home in December last year, moving out of her family home, and her abode often featured on social media.

As has Megan’s glamorous lifestyle, as she is often seen posing with her designer handbags and chic shades in her Instagram posts, as well as documenting her whereabouts online.

The circumstances in the lead-up to Megan’s ordeal are similar to that of Kim Kardashian’s experience in Paris, where she was targeted for her jewellery and robbed at gunpoint in her apartment, in that thieves could identify where she was and her possessions from her use of social media.

The terrifying encounter led to Kim changing her ways when it comes to social media, after one of the robbers involved in the heist confirmed that her online activity had helped them to plan and carry out the crime.

Since then, she has purposely pared back her use of her social media accounts and no longer reveals her whereabouts in real time on apps such as Twitter and Instagram and favours posts that are no longer flaunting her wealth and celebrity lifestyle.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April earlier this year, Kim explained: ‘I was definitely materialistic before, not that there is anything bad with having those things, I worked really hard to get those things and I’m proud of everyone around me that is successful… but I just don’t care about that stuff anymore. I really don’t.’

She also revealed that she has since increased security measures.

Meanwhile, Megan’s home being burgled comes just a week after news surfaced of her split from ex-boyfriend and fellow co-star Pete.

They had rekindled their romance following a make or break trip to Vegas in June – appearing to move on from the scandal that had initially rocked their relationship, where Pete had been caught explicitly texting another woman.

However, it was reported that the pair had called it quits once again at the start of October, as their romance had become tainted by the ‘stress and pressure of constant rows’.

Pete has since confirmed the split and despite insisting the duo are ‘not ready to date anyone else’, is believed to be left ‘devastated’ after reports claimed Megan has reunited with a former ex Harry Eden.

Just a month ago, Megan had appeared on ITV’s Loose Women, after launching her country music career with her own reality show There’s Something About Megan and debut single High Heeled Shoes, and had gushed about her reunion with Pete.

She told the panel: ‘We had a nasty break up but I’m really happy with how we are. That break apart was the best thing that could have happened.’

Concerned that being in the public eye could negatively impact the pair’s romance once again, Megan added: ‘It is a worry but we’ve started it with a clean slate – any relationship in the public eye is hard.’
