Police manhunt for two girls, aged 12 and 14

Police Scotland have launched an ‘extensive’ operation to help find two missing girls, who have not been seen since yesterday.

Jasmine Agnew, 12, and Leah Dixon, 14, did not return to their homes in Renfrewshire on Friday night and were reported missing to police the same evening.

Police Scotland said they are growing increasingly concerned about the whereabouts of the two girls. Authorities believe the pair may have travelled more than 30 miles away towards Falkirk.

The girls’ parents said that all known places that the girls visit have been investigated, but there have been no further signs of their current whereabouts.

Jasmine’s mother Karine said: ‘Please ask your sons or daughters if they know Jasmine and if they have seen her or heard from her since yesterday afternoon.

‘She had arranged for a friend to do her Snapchat streaks and she hasn’t been on social media herself since 4pm yesterday.’

Leah Dixon was last seen in Gauze Street, Paisley, on Friday at around 9.10am

Jasmine, who also goes by the name Jasmie McGowan (left), left her home in Sandy Road in Renfew at 3pm. Leah Dixon (right) was last seen in Gauze Street, Paisley, on Friday at around 9.10am

Leah’s mother Pauline has launched an emotional plea on Facebook to anyone who has information regarding the whereabout of her daughter.

She wrote: ‘My 14 year old daughter Leah Dixon has been missing since tea time Friday evening. Her friend is also missing and we think that this is something they have planned in advance.

‘The police have searched all of the places she usually hangs about and have had no luck. We have heard that she may have travelled to Falkirk/ Airdrie and be in a flat in this area.

‘Please share this information with your sons and daughters if they know Leah or her friends and if they have seen or been in contact with her in the last day. Please share this post as far and wide as you can. Any information no mater how small will be greatly appreciated.’

Jasmine, who also goes by the name Jasmine McGowan, left her home in Sandy Road in Renfew at 3pm, while Leah was seen in Gauze Street, Paisley at around 9.10am. Their two homes are roughly 2.4 miles apart.

Leah Dixon was last seen in Gauze Street, Paisley, on Friday at around 9.10am.

Jasmine was wearing a black puffer jacket and black skinny jeans before her disappearance.

She is around 5ft 4ins tall with a slim built, and has brown wavy hair and blue eyes.

Leah is a similar height and build but has long brown hair. She was wearing black leggings, a grey long-sleeved shirt, black Nike trainers, a black parka jacket with a fur-lined hood, and was carrying a camouflage print bag.

A number of inquiries are now underway to find the girls. Officers in Falkirk are also looking out for any sightings of the pair.

Police Scotland has urged anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to contact them immediately.

Inspector Steven Espie said: ‘We are growing increasingly concerned for the girls given their age and that fact that no-one has heard from them.

‘We are checking relevant CCTV footage for any additional information and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen the girls to contact us.

‘We believe they may have got on a bus and travelled to Falkirk and we are undertaking inquiries to ascertain if that is the case.’
