The QF467 flight bound for Melbourne was leaving its gate at around 7:30pm last night when the incident occurred.
The plane, a Boeing 737, had only moved a short distance when it reversed into the catering cart, which reportedly frightened passengers.
One commuter filmed the moments just after the crash, with the pilot explaining the situation to those on-board.
