More drama for scandalous Aussie star Liz Cambage as her WNBA team DUMPS her after her alleged ‘monkeys’ slur on Nigerian Olympic rivals rocked Australian basketball

  • Cambage has been axed by WNBA powerhouse club Los Angeles Sparks
  • It is just the latest chapter of a tumultuous period for the Aussie superstar

Aussie basketball star Liz Cambage just can’t seem to keep herself out of the headlines, after the 30-year-old was sensationally axed by WNBA powerhouse Los Angeles Sparks.

The Sparks released a statement on Tuesday saying they had agreed to a ‘contract divorce’ with the controversial Aussie, after whispers emerged the recent free agent acquisition had quit the club.

It has been a tumultuous period for Cambage, who didn’t take part in the Tokyo Olympics last year after allegeded using racial slurs during a pre-Games trial against Nigeria.

Aussie basketballing superstar Liz Cambage turned heads last week when she rocked this little black number at the ESPY Awards

After two heated scuffles during the scrimmage in Las Vegas prior to the Games, it was alleged Cambage called member of the Nigerian team ‘monkeys’ after elbowing one of her opponents in the face and slapping another in the face.

The incident left both Opals teammates and Nigerian players gobsmacked someone with a Nigerian father would use the crude remark.

Cambage has continued to deny the reports, and didn’t go to the Olympics, citing mental health issues.

Since being a highly-touted second pick of the 2011 WNBA Draft, Cambage has bounced (pun intended) around a number of clubs in a stop-start career.

It’s not known yet what Cambage’s next step will be after her ‘contract divorce’.

More to come…
