‘This is the best I’ve ever seen them look! They have completely transformed this space!’ said a second.

‘We have a large set of timber stairs in our new house and whilst I love them, it is SO MUCH timber. This is a great way to break them up,’ another wrote.

‘Definitely brightens up the stairs. Very nice!,’ replied a fourth.

Another asked whether the tiles would be easy to mop to which the DIY-er responded: ‘They have a rubbery feel to them, and very waterproof’.

According to the Kmart website, the tiles ‘are suitable for use on kitchen backsplashes, bathroom backsplashes, worktops, table tops, bedrooms, living rooms and other flat surfaces’.

How to apply Kmart’s adhesive tiles

1. Clean the surface where you wish to apply the tile. Thoroughly clean surface with a degreaser then allow to completely dry.

2. Starting from the left side, trace guidelines on your surface with a level or chalk to align the placement of tiles.

3. Using a ruler cut the left part of your left tile to required size, along a straight line.

4. Peel back the first 5cm of the backing without touching the adhesive surface. Align the tile carefully along the guideline while applying light pressure from left to right. Press firmly once applied.

5. Align the tiles carefully from left to right along the guideline and only overlap where the pattern matches.

6. You are now complete.
