Love Island SPOILER: Gemma’s mum says dad Michael Owen is ‘really proud’ as she heads into the villa

As Sunday evening’s episode of Love Island is set to welcome the islander’s families to the villa, Gemma Owen will be reunited with her mum Louise and pal Sarah.

It comes after her dad Michael Owen confirmed earlier this month that when the time comes for parents to enter the Love Island villa, he’ll be staying home to ‘represent the horses’ while his wife does the honour.

But Louise will reference her striker husband as she heads into the famous villa, explaining that he’s ‘really proud’ of Gemma and has been watching the show.

As a shocked Gemma sees her mum for the first time since the beginning of the show, talk will turn to family life back home.

And referencing Michael, Louise will assure: ‘Honestly, he is really proud of you, really proud.’

Before adding of the family: ‘They’re all loving watching you, they’re missing you like mad.’

Fans were hopeful they’d see Michael jetting off to Mallorca, as no football fixtures meant that his schedule appeared free for the trip, but the pundit confirmed that he wouldn’t be attending while at the horse races earlier this month.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ At The Races after watching his horse run, Michael explained: ‘My wife will do that duty. I’ll represent the horses and she’ll represent the daughter.’

Racing fanatic Michael added he has total faith in his daughter, insisting he is less worried about her turn on Love Island than he is about watching his horse Box To Box race.

Proud parents: And referencing Michael, Louise will assure: ‘Honestly, he is really proud of you, really proud’

Family’s meeting: Gemma’s partner Luca Bish will welcome his dad, who is also called Michael, and his mum Maria during Sunday’s episode too

He added: ‘I don’t know what I’ll get from Box To Box. But I know what I’m going to get from my daughter. I’ve fathered her for 19 years so I’m pretty sure what I’m going to get from her.’

Gemma’s partner Luca Bish will welcome his dad, who is also called Michael, and his mum Maria during Sunday’s episode too.

And appearing to approve of the 19-year-old, his dad will jest: ‘She puts you straight doesn’t she.’

While Maria adds of Gemma: ‘First night I said they fancy each other, I knew it. I love the values and morals she has.’
