Manu Feildel reveals the one kitchen utensil cooking queen Nigella Lawson doesn’t know how to use – after she signed up to for the MKR reboot

British chef Nigella Lawson might be a culinary great.

But according to her My Kitchen Rules co-star Manu Feildel, 48, Nigella actually doesn’t know how to use chopsticks.

Manu spoke on News.com.au’s podcast I’ve Got News For You and said he found it ‘hilarious’ the 62-year-old didn’t know what to do with the utensils when they were put down during a judging segment on the show.

Manu Feildel revealed on a new podcast this week the one kitchen utensil cooking queen Nigella Lawson doesn’t know how to use – chopsticks – after she signed up to for the MKR reboot

‘(Nigella) can’t use chopsticks,’ Manu said on the podcast.

‘I remember sitting at the table. We had just had chopsticks placed next to the plate and she turned around to me and she whispered in my ear, ”I don’t know how to use chopsticks,” he explained.

He added: ‘And I thought it was hilarious!’

It comes after Nigella made headlines back in 2020 for her very odd pronunciation of microwave.

After pronouncing it as ‘meecro-wah-vey’ on her BBC2 cooking show Cook, Eat, Repeat, Nigella later said it was all part of a ‘camp joke that’s become habit’.

She added that it is a part of her sense of humour to ‘deliberately pronounce things wrong’ and even joked she says Worcester as ‘wusster-shusster’.

According to The Australian meanwhile, despite Nigella signing on to appear on the My Kitchen Rules reboot with Manu, she will only appear in half the episodes of the show.

The publication reported Nigella, 62, ‘will appear only for the first round of the show with Manu Feildel.’

Chef Matt Preston will then replace her for the second round, before Colin Fassnidge and Curtis Stone man the show’s finals.

Nigella’s scant appearance comes despite her ‘reputedly huge fee’ the publication reports.

Global home-cooking sensation Nigella is replacing disgraced Pete Evans, who was axed from the Seven network in 2020 amidst the show’s falling ratings in its then eleventh year of production.

Nigella has previously spoken about her excitement about starring on the series.

‘When you think about the food you love, it’s nearly always home cooking,’ she said.

‘I’m a home cook and it’s the food that I want to eat. I’ve come 17,000 kilometres to find Australia’s best home cooks.’

My Kitchen Rules returns to Seven on Sunday at 7pm.
