Kevin Cadle, former Sky Sports presenter dies, aged 62 

Sky Sports presenter and onetime British basketball coach Kevin Cadle has died at the age of 62. 

The coach, who was born in the US, coached the Scotland and England basketball teams as well as leading Britain’s team at the qualification tournament for the 1992 Olympics.

Alongside his coaching career, Cadle was a popular figure on Sky Sports and was the face of the NFL and NBA for many in the UK.

British Basketball tweeted: ‘We are shocked and saddened to hear that #BritishBasketball has lost a true legend in Kevin Cadle. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.’

NFL UK tweeted: ‘We are shocked & saddened to hear of the death of Kevin Cadle, a great friend of #NFLUK for so long. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.’ 

Cadle was the most successful basketball coach in British history, winning 30 titles with the likes of Glasgow, Kingston, Guildford and London Towers teams.

He was a supporter of the Buffalo Bills. 

During his 13-year career – which spanned the years 1984-1997 – he won eight Coach of the Year awards. 

He finished his career with an overall record of 397 wins, 97 losses  and two ties with his 80 per cent win record still the best in British Basketball League history.  

Cadle began coaching with Falkirk before moving around the country to coach a variety of teams.

He also coached both the Scotland and England basketball teams as well as the Great Britain team during the 1992 Olympics qualification tournament. 

Cadle’s former colleague Neil Reynolds, who continues to present NFL coverage on Sky Sports, said: ‘Shocked and beyond devastated that my long-time colleague, mentor and friend is gone too soon. Will miss the great Kevin Cadle. RIP ‘ma man.’

Barney Francis, managing director at Sky Sports, said: ‘Kevin presented our NFL and basketball coverage for over 15 years and he did so much to inform and entertain the growing fan bases these sports enjoy in the UK and Ireland.

‘In a week that will see yet another NFL sell-out crowd on these shores, we should recognise the impact he made. He was a great guy, an excellent colleague and we will all miss him very much. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.’ 

Former footballer Stan Collymore wrote on Twitter: ‘Extremely sad news to hear of the passing of Kevin Cadle. Sincere condolences to his friends and family.’
