Heavily-armed police fire ‘bullets’ into a car in Sydney’s east before dragging two men from the vehicle

Heavily-armed officers in tactical gear have stormed a busy road in Sydney’s east and fired ‘rubber bullets’ into a car before dragging two men from the vehicle. 

Officers descended on the car in the middle of New South Head Road in Edgecliff on Sunday evening following reports of several gunshots.

A NSW Police spokesman said a 42-year-old man was arrested by Tactical Operations Unit officers during a vehicle stop just before 5pm.

‘As part of an ongoing investigation, a 42-year-old man was arrested by Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) officers during a vehicle stop on New South Head Road at Edgecliff about 4.50pm today,’ the spokesman said. 

‘He’s been taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

‘No further information is available at this time.’
