AGELESS STYLE: Style staples for every age
Love it or loathe it, pink is enjoying a renaissance and it’s waiting in the wings to add a pop of colour to our autumn wardrobes. I’d always steered away from colours like fuchsia until I tried on this jacket during a work appointment at Fenwick. It looked amazing with jeans and a white shirt and instantly brought that extra zing my outfit needed. I’m a convert and see this jacket as a new alternative to the classic black blazer.
Jacket, £485, Max Mara Studio, fenwick.co.uk. Blouse, £16, F&F, Tesco stores. Trousers, £168, reiss.com. Earrings, £65, coeur-de-lion.org. Bag, £1,450, jimmychoo.com. Shoes, £345, russellandbromley.co.uk
COLLAR
A collarless blouse will ensure the look stays unfussy and slick. This one from F&F at Tesco is a well-priced must-have you will reach for time and time again.
PLEATS
Crisp front pleats elongate your legs. Don’t be afraid to size up trousers to ensure a fluid and flattering fit.
SHOES
Chunky-heeled loafers add a retro feel to a modern tailored look. These, from Russell & Bromley, have a small platform sole that gives a sense of a longer leg while still being comfortable.
MAKE UP
A slick of hot pink lipstick echoes the colour of the jacket.
JEWELLERY
A pair of simple yet statement earrings is all this look needs to keep it fresh.
ACCESSORIES
Timeless accessories last a lifetime and a classic black bag – like this structured, chain-handle one by Jimmy Choo – is an investment buy.
FOR SIMILAR
Try River Island’s ruched-sleeve blazer, £65, next.co.uk, or Sosandar’s leopard-print lined hot pink blazer, £75, johnlewis.com.
DO
Try pairing a fuchsia blazer with sharp black tailoring. It’s a great way to give the traditional autumnal palette an unexpected twist.
DON’T
Be afraid to mix your tones of pink – pastel trousers work well with this blazer – but ensure your accessories balance the look
